I joined AWS in 2014 as Vice President of AWS Marketplace. In this role, I led the AWS Marketplace business, including product management, engineering & WW business development teams. In 2015, I took over additional responsibility for AWS Service Catalog, and expanded my scope to lead Migration Hub and Application Discovery Service in 2018. All of the businesses I manage focus on helping companies accelerate innovation and growth, by simplifying self-service software procurement. With AWS Marketplace, my teams are continuously re-inventing to find the best ways to make it easy for organizations across the globe to find, test, buy, meter and deploy third-party software on AWS. AWS Marketplace currently has over 4,200 software products from 1,300 software vendors, which are deployed into 15 AWS regions worldwide, and used by over 170,000 active customers. AWS Service Catalog is a customer managed private library of what a corporation allows to run and publish internally, both internally developed and procured, from enterprise companies like GE, to very small start-ups. It’s a fascinating group of services, always changing and innovating, in step with software innovation such as ML, Serverless, Containers, microservices and SaaS. Never a dull moment!
Prior to joining AWS, I spent 3 years as CEO of a Seattle based, VC-backed customer SAAS messaging platform, Varolii Corporation, which I sold to Nuance Corporation. Prior to that I spent a brief period at Microsoft, as the GM of Windows Server Product Strategy. I spent 19 years in California, with a latter 11 years in Southern California. Roles included, VP of Content Management at IBM/FileNet in Southern Cal, SVP of Client/Server at Unisys Corporation, and I ran two other SaaS start-ups. I started my technology career in London with Unisys.
Outside of work, I focus on my wife Angela (my companion and soulmate of 25 years), our two kids (Callum and Fiona), and our dog Teddy. We like to cook, hike, and travel the world. I earned my Masters/Bachelors degrees in Economic History and English from Glasgow University, and I have had the fortune to be on Executive Leadership courses at Wharton and Stanford in the United States.
